The Model 51 is only a three shot shotgun. The 51 will not feed a shell every time when working manually. You have to push the carrier release each time. However, it should extract shell from chamber every time, and not double feed. I have an Ithaca Model 51. It has trouble cycling and I have disassemblied it to clean the action spring. However, when I go to re-assemble the bolt to the action slide assembly; I am not sure about the bolt buffer. My problem is that I am not sure if the bolt buffer goes to the front or to the back ...
