C3 Tech/Performance - 1970 LT1 engine number - My 350 engine has an engine number starting with CEC. The block # is 3970010. I ordered this engine new over the parts counter from a Chevy dealer in 1972. I thought it was a 1970 LT1, but the CEC prefix doesn't match up with anything I can find in the books. What does...

One forum quoted that GM moved date codes to the side of the block in the 70's. This is passenger side between the core plugs. Block code (in the usual place) confirmed as 3970010 "M" code next to this.
